Like many entrepreneurs, Elis Andreasson was a curious man, always looking for new angles, testing fresh ideas and challenging convention. In 1971, his passion for boating lit a spark in his mind – a spark that still glows brightly over 40 years later.

Elis enjoyed sailing very much. So much, in fact, that it was on one of his pleasant afternoon trips across Sweden’s largest lake Vänern, that his big idea was born. Hurrying back to his garage workshop in the nearby town of Vänersborg and taking out his drawing pencils, Elis began work sketching a valve. Not just any old valve though. His valve would do more – and it would do it better than any other valve on the market. The valve in question allowed for faster inflation of rubber dinghies. A simple concept – but Elis knew it was a winner.

From these humble beginnings, Monsun Air System ® was born - and today we are established as a world leader in the design, manufacture and supply of non-return valves for inflatable oil booms, boats, dunnage bags and pontoons. We are also committed to creating quality, hand-assembled products and providing our clients on five continents with fast, personal and efficient service, no matter where they are or what they require.

Although we left the garage a long time ago, we like to think that a part of us will always be there. The part that keeps us thinking, creating, and innovating. And are we happy about this? You can be sure we are – because when we’re innovating, we know that the spirit of adventure that led to our birth remains very much alive.
